![]() ![]() Now hold down the Option key on the keyboard and click on 'File' in the Menu bar. Open a Finder window where the file is located and single click on the file to select it. Instead of deleting a file and moving it to Trash and getting rid of it for good from there, you can delete a file immediately without going through the aforementioned trouble in El Capitan. Delete Files Immediately Without Dropping Them In Trash Click on the 'Transit' button on the top right hand corner to access the feature. For instance, the Maps app will now give you public transit information in select locations, saving you a bunch of time and trouble. While most of us are still not ready to lay our trust on Apple's Maps app just yet, but the Cupertino company is doing all in its power to make things more useful again. Just like on iOS 9, the Notes app in OS X El Capitan is much more handy and can do things like adding images, drawings and whatnot. Furthermore, you can drag Spotlight around on the display as well, unlike Yosemite. Or you can type in 'Documents I worked on last week' and it will give you all the relevant results. ![]() For instance, you can type 'Weather Mountain View' and it will show you weather for that location. Spotlight search is much more useful in El Capitan, and you can type in queries naturally as well. Simply right click on the tab itself, and then click on 'Pin Tab.' The pinned tab will always appear on the left hand side of Safari. You can also mute all tabs by clicking on the speaker icon in the address bar. ![]() Clicking on the speaker icon will mute that tab instantly. If you have Safari running with multiple tabs and one of those tabs is blasting out audio, then you'll notice a little 'speaker' icon on that tab so you can easily locate where the audio is coming from. If you have a second app open on the display that supports full-screen mode, then it will show up in the non-active pane. Simply click on it to bring that into the full-screen view as well. Make your choice and the app will go full screen in that pane. You'll notice that El Capitan will ask you to drop a window in one of two panes - left or right. Simply click and hold on the green 'full-screen' button at the top of a window. You can now run two full-screen apps running side by side if you so wish. The Menu bar will go away and you can access it by moving the mouse pointer to the top of the display. Here you'll see an option labelled 'Automatically hide and show the menu bar.' Click on the option to enable it. Launch System Preferences, then click on General. If you're bothered by the site of the Menu bar at all times, then you'll be pleased to learn that you can hide it in El Capitan. Ideal if you have a Retina iMac, or a dual monitor setup.
